The Whole Foods Recipes iPhone App
Over the last couple of months, I got to work with a team from Whole Foods Markets (Bill, Marla, Craig, and others) and our team at Small Society (James, Heather, Devin, Raven and myself) to put together what I (shamelessly) think is the best Recipe app on the iTunes App store: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/iphone/.
Let me plug it a bit:
Recipes in your pocket! If you’re into food like me it’s just so damned cool. We also made it a great tool for finding and referencing recipes, so you can find them by what ingredients you have on hand, or by all kinds of criteria, like type of meal or special diet. You can save your favorites and have them handy for whenever; think “standing on the patio by the grill”.
Finding a Whole Foods store by your current location or zip code, and getting directions etc. is like drop-dead simple (seriously, if your dead finger were to just hit one key, it’d be done). I actually had no idea there were so many so close to me, so it was fun finding that out, also had a chance to use it around San Francisco, and it’s just, like a whole new world when finding stuff is this easy.
At the last minute, the decision was made to go 3.0 only, and this let us build in maps, in-app emailing of recipes and copy/paste so you can get that list of ingredients out easily. Just not having to pull the user out of the app for maps and email is a huge win.
Ok, end of plug but seriously, it’s free, try it. Ok? OK?
